Happy one year to JasmineLily blog and what an incredible year it has been!!! Okay.. I know this post is LATE, like really LATE but here it is..

Thank you to all of my subscribers, for reading and commenting each week.. it really does mean the world to me. I am grateful for every single one of you.. Crazy how I was just interviewed for an article to talk about my blog..

I started this blog in August of 2017. I began it on a whim without knowing much about where to start but with a whole lot of heart! I had read a lot about Go Daddy and Square space (my previous domain). I decided to go for it..

I read, I read a lot. The internet is a plethora of knowledge and luckily for me Pinterest is too! I decided to start posting my articles; stuff I had written from before I blogged and here I am…

Things I have learned over this past year:

  • Get comfortable with being uncomfortable. People will like the raw, real you. It comes with the territory of blogging so get used to it!!

  • Before publishing anything, read it once, then again and proofread it another time.

  • Don’t be afraid to say “NO” to unpaid collabs, or “discount codes” and all the nonsense. Free product is okay [and appreciated] but you have to disclose it.. your time is valuable..remember that! Free product is also NOT payment for a collab.. don’t confuse the two.

  • You will work a lot, that’s okay. Growth takes time – Rome wasn’t built in a day! Your blog won’t be either…

  • Read a lot, find something that calls to you.. whatever that maybe. Don’t ever think you can’t do this just because there are XYZ “fashion” bloggers…

  • Get personal, dig deep. People will resonate with you and you’ll build a solid following.

  • Engage with everyone – bloggers, your supporters, followers.. Like, comment and support others and they will do the same for you.

  • Have fun, if someone would have told me the amount of work this takes a year ago, I would have laughed in their face! It’s not always easy to create content, to take great pics, etc.. BUT, if you’re having fun.. the rest will come!

  • Stay consistent (I know, I know.. I don’t always practice what I preach). In the beginning I posted often and all the time – but then it was hard to keep up with, eventually I found a rhythm. I also began my blog in the summer when I had a bit more time.. find a schedule that works for you and try to stick to it.

  • I recently switched from Squarespace to WordPress [how do you guys like it?]- WordPress is better! Squarespace is very constricting so if you’re looking for a webpage, WordPress is the way to go!
  • Comparison is the thief of joy – DO NOT COMPARE YOUR GROWTH TO OTHERS. You will grow at your own pace and on your own time..

  • There is so much more but this is the gist of it.. thank you for being here!

Ps. if there is anything else you’d like to know, I’m an open book. Leave a comment below or message me.
