Be good to yourself too.

I got to thinking the other day about how many of us fail to take care of ourselves? Like really nourish our bodies, mind and soul. How many of us struggle with being enough? I know I do. Maybe if I say it enough then I will actually start to believe it. I struggle with it so much. Did I do enough today? What more could I have done? As someone with OCD, I usually want to take on more than I can physically and mentally handle. It’s exhausting. I always do that though; I always bite off more than I can chew. It’s in my nature. I am just now learning to take a step back and allow myself some “time off”. 

What I have learned is this, if I don’t take care of myself FIRST then I definitely can’t take care of anyone else and that includes my child. It makes me feel selfish when I put myself first, like something isn’t right. But the truth is, there will always be MORE. I can always do more. The point is that I am enough. I do enough and so do you. So if you’re on the fence about taking that new class, scheduling time for yourself or anything else that truly makes YOU happy.. then do it! We can’t get into the habit of listening to our fears and insecurities. If we do, they will consume us. They will live off of our thoughts and invade our lives. Are you perfect? FUCK NO. Will you ever be? Probably not. Is that okay? Absolutely. 

Sometimes I feel like everyone else cuts me slack before I cut myself slack. It’s so important to do things that make you happy. To find joy in the smallest of things. Sometimes when no one is around I make myself a cup of coffee, side at the edge of my bench cuddled up in my favorite throw and give myself five minutes. Five whole minutes of doing nothing. Five minutes where I can just appreciate that cup of coffee. 

If we don’t learn to love ourselves then there will NEVER be any love to give anyone else. This doesn’t just happen overnight; you have to work at it. You have to make a commitment to yourself to do what sets your soul on fire.

Time is unforgiving and waits for no one. Be good to yourself too..

  1. I can Relate to this, and YOU, so much. Some days I feel I ‘m at my best when i am Utterly overwhelmed. Somedays i win. Others, my OCD. It’s a constant work in progress. Xoxo


    • All.the.time. I refuse to give in everyday. The days I just kind of go with the flow are nice, I relish them. They call for me to relax, if only for a bit. Xx, J
